Job summary

The full time (37.5 hours) role is advertised on a fixed term contract basis from February 2025 until the February 2026. The part time (30 hours) role is advertised on a fixed term basis from January 2025 to April 2025 due to maternity leave of the substantive post holders. The fixed term contract status of the post holders will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.

An opportunity has arisen within the Medical HR Department for enthusiastic, self-motivated, well-organised individuals who wish to develop their skills in the provision of a comprehensive HR service.

The main focus of these roles will be working alongside the Medical HR Managers in supporting resident doctors across the trust and associated host organisations.

The posts offer an opportunity to expand experience in this specialised and developing area of HR work. Applicants should be able to demonstrate commitment, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the post involves liaison with medical staff at all levels in addition to outside agencies. A diplomatic and tactful approach is essential.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the provision of a comprehensive and timely Human Resource service based on current best practice and in accordance with Local/National Terms and Conditions of Service and current legislation.

Provision of a recruitment and selection service for doctors and dentists. This includes the preparation of advertisements, job descriptions, person specification and provision of advice on issues relating to Trust policies and procedures, ensuring good practice in accordance with statutory requirements.

Preparation of appointment letters, payroll documentation and contracts of employment associated with new starters, changes to employee details and termination of employment matters.

Participate in the administration of the Lead Employer arrangement liaising with Training Programme Directors to ensure the efficient and effective organisation of training rotations and participate in pre-recruitment processes regarding approvals, funding and organisational issues.

To assist the Medical HR Manager in the promotion of good industrial relations within the Trust by developing working relationships with staff associations and trade unions.
