An exciting opportunity has arisen within Acute & Emergency Medicine (AEM) for an enthusiastic, hardworking and self-motivated individual to join our medical secretarial team. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive and efficient secretarial service to the Care Group consultants, Matron for Acute Medicine and AMU Ward Managers.
We are seeking an experienced PA/Medical Secretary to work within this busy care group. The individual will be organised and motivated, with excellent communication skills and a professional and diplomatic approach to their work.
This is a demanding but interesting and diverse role in a friendly team and is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills. The successful candidates must possess the ability to work as part of a team and the initiative to work unsupervised when necessary. An understanding of confidentiality is essential as well as a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This opportunity would suit individuals who thrive in a varied and dynamic role.
You must be educated to a GCSE standard (or equivalent) and have experience working in an office environment. Previous hospital experience including knowledge of EPR systems would be desirable. Good communication skills and excellent keyboard skills are also essential.
Full training for this post will be provided.
Main duties of the job
As a PA/Medical Secretary, you will support the department by carrying out the following duties:
- Arranging departmental meetings, typing agendas and taking minutes
- Managing diaries and work schedules
- Taking phone calls and dealing with enquiries
- Ensuring staff files are kept up to date
- Keeping track of staff sickness and arranging sickness meetings by liaising with HR, ensuring timely correspondence is sent
- Monitor Acute Medicine access plans, ensuring clinics are booked and typing letters to patients/GPs promptly
- Support in the production of Rotas for the Acute Medicine consultants.
