We have an excellent and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and suitably experienced Senior Practitioner/Sister/Charge nurse to General surgery - Operating Services at Northern General Hospital.

Hours of working rota may be altered, to provide adequate provision for patient care, unless otherwise stated in contract of employment.
The post holder may be asked at the discretion of the Nurse Director to work in any Unit of the Trust, as required.
Main duties of the job
Maintain a dynamic enthusiastic role model providing clinical leadership on speciality issues to ensure a high standard of care.
Incorporating evidence/research-based practice.
Recognise the rights, dignity and confidentiality of the patient, staff and visitors and ensure they are protected at all times.
The post holder will co-operate with staff from other departments to develop effective channels of communication.
The post holder will work alongside and liaise with the Lead Patient Flow Co Ordinator.
In collaboration with Lead Practitioner develop clinical standards, policies and procedures to ensure a high-quality service is delivered
Empower and motivate team members to develop their skills and knowledge and to promote a cohesive team structure.
Initiate and respond to change in a positive, flexible and strategic manner.
In liaison with the Lead Practitioner the post holder will effectively co-ordinate the team to ensure an appropriate skill mix of personnel.
Ensure the maintenance of accurate records, having due regard to legal aspects, confidentiality and management information requirement.
The postholder is required to manage frequent interruptions of an unpredictable/urgent nature that require an immediate response.

- Registered Nurse (General Level 1) with valid NMC Registration.
- Operating department practitioner (City&Guilds 752/ODP level 3 or Diploma/BSC Operating department practice) with valid HCPC registration
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Management experience
- Completion of Mentor Preparation.
- Working towards degree level credits in associated pathway
Desirable
- Post registration specialist course
- Management and Leadership Qualification.
- Assessor qualification
- Relevant Degree.
