An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Antenatal Outpatient Matron, at the Jessop Wing in Sheffield.

The successful candidate will provide midwifery leadership as Matron for Antenatal Outpatient Services (including Antenatal Clinic, Antenatal Day Assessment Unit, Feto Maternal Unit, Diabetes and screening). You will be supported by a compassionate and supportive senior leadership team, focused on ensuring women who birth at the Jessop Wing or require high risk antenatal care, receive safe, evidence-based care, by our Multidisciplinary Teams.

The role will include line management responsibility to Band 7 Lead and Specialist Midwives, within the outpatient service.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical and professional leadership to the clinical teams within Antenatal Outpatient Services.

Line management responsibilities.

Demonstrate effective leadership, setting, monitoring and maintaining professional standards, working collaboratively, and lead the midwifery contribution for clinical governance at a directorate/s/specialty/department level in line with the Nursing & Midwifery Strategy.

Undertake 24 hour responsibility for Antenatal Outpatients ensuring high standards of evidence based care for women and their babies.

Work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary teams to create an environment in which improving the quality of the service delivered is paramount.

Maintain a credible clinical portfolio though the delivery of high quality midwifery care acting as a role model for midwifery practice across the outpatient services.

Provide expert midwifery advice, education and leadership within all areas of antenatal care.

Work autonomously within trust policy, national and local guidelines, and within own scope of professional practice.

Strive to develop and improve antenatal outpatient care and support innovation, research and evidence based practice.

Be responsible for the operational and budgetary management of antenatal outpatient services.

Role model and promote the Trust 'PROUD' behaviours.

Participate in the 2902 bleep rota and the Jessop Wing management on call rota.

A tertiary Gynae-Oncology service and a changing Gynaecology Service, which includes an Assisted Conception Unit, complete the services within the Directorate.
