Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced clinical trials pharmacist to work directly with the Senior Pharmacy Management team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post-holder will be responsible for the leadership and strategic development of the clinical trials service following significant recent investment into the team to expand the clinical trial portfolio at STH.

Working closely with medical, university and research staff, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and expansion of clinical trial delivery across Trust.

Main duties of the job

To lead, manage, develop and be responsible for pharmacy clinical trials services including Advanced Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products (ATIMPs) at STHFT.

To provide expert advice on pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are met, both within and outside pharmacy.

Ensure pharmacy clinical trials services are fully aligned to support the Trust's research strategy and the pharmacy strategy. To represent pharmacy at the Trust Research Board to prioritise studies, provide updates on pharmacy services and capacity, performance metrics and on developments with ATIMPs.

Lead pharmacy clinical trials input into the Trust Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products Group providing expert quality assurance and governance advice on the safe handling of products and compliance with legislation and guidance.

Develop links and network with regional and national pharmacy clinical trial groups and actively contribute to strategic policy and governance agendas.

Support the safe and appropriate use of the digital environment to record clinical trial prescribing and administration and data records ensuring compliance with regulations.

Contribute to departmental strategy, governance and leadership as a member of the Pharmacy Senior Management Team providing expertise and oversight on clinical trials services.

Essential

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy
  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or similar/equivalent
