Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the General Surgery research team. The post holder will manage a UK multicentre colorectal cancer clinical research study called 'Atrial Fibrillation After Resection (AFAR)'. This study is funded by the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB) and Sponsored by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS FT.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 21 Months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work with the General Surgery Directorate Research Co-ordinator, Chief Investigator and Sponsor to set up, support and close down 15-25 NHS participating sites in the UK. The post holder will be required to monitor recruitment to time and target and project delivery, submit amendments to regulatory bodies as appropriate, provide quality assurance and liaise with research finance.

The Directorate conducts research in the areas of coloproctology, upper GI, hepatobillary and thyroid surgery.
