An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Practitioner to assist with Point of Care Testing (POCT), based in the Department of Clinical Chemistry at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The successful candidate will be required to assist the Point of Care Co-ordinator to maintain equipment, troubleshoot problems, distribute External Quality Assurance samples, and assist with the training of colleagues in the use of Point of Care equipment.

Main duties of the job

o Performs a number of healthcare science / scientific activities, under the indirect supervision/direction of a suitably qualified practitioner.o Work in line with all prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Policies as directed and be involved in the review process.o Prioritise work to ensure correct workflow through the laboratory and ensure urgent tests are processed according to SOP.o Ensure all tests are performed efficiently within the assigned time and in accordance with established protocols to the required standards.o Work in a safe manner in accordance with service, Directorate and Trust health and safety policies.o Adhere to the requirements of the Data Protection Act and to treat with discretion, avoiding disclosure to unauthorised individuals, all confidential and other information acquired while fulfilling their professional duties.o Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the diagnostic testing process.o Work effectively/efficiently to minimise wastage of resources.o Assist in monitoring quality standards and perform audit as required.o Assist with aspects of health and safety monitoring and risk assessments.o Deliver staff training as appropriate.
