Job summary

A position has arisen for an experienced clinical perfusion scientist to work in a multi disciplinary team within the Cardiothoracic Directorate.

As an autonomous practitioner a Senior Clinical Perfusionist should offer a comprehensive specialist clinical and technical perfusion service during both routine and emergency procedures as a vital member of the multidisciplinary team during cardiac surgery. The Senior Clinical Perfusionist will also participate in the development of department protocols and research.

Registration with The College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of GB&I is essential. Active accreditation with CCPS essential.

Main duties of the job

To provide a first class service both perioperatively and in the pre and post op setting in all aspects of adult cardiac perfusion.The candidate will be fully conversant in all fields of cardiac perfusion and have sufficient experience to function as a sole practitioner and within the wider team.Sheffield University Hospitals Trust is a proud institution with a history of providing exceptional care to the surrounding South Yorkshire area and beyond. The continuing development of complex aortic surgery and minimal access procedures require an experienced applicant, although additional instruction will be forthcoming if required.

A keen interest in research is also advantageous.

  • Good working knowledge of routine and specialised clinical techniques for example Thrombo Elastography, Vacuum Assist Drainage and Blood Conservation.

  • Up to date with latest developments

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Qualified Perfusionist
