Job summary
This fixed term appointment in Cardiothoracic at FY2 level is intended to support the service undertaking ward duties in a large Teaching Hospital.
The appointment is to commence as soon as possible for a fixed term period of 6 months (extendable for 12 months), MBBS or equivalent is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to Foundation Level.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be expected to work with and as part of the Cardiothoracic Surgery teams to deliver clinical care and participate in business ward rounds every weekday morning. They are responsible for in-patient care and preoperative assessment of both cardiac and thoracic surgery patients. There is a proportion of urgent and emergency work in addition to elective surgical work.
The aim of the role is to provide clinical care to patients while also using the post as a learning forum to maintain good medical practice and strive towards maintaining one's own personal development through learning, teaching, and managerial opportunities.
