Job summary

Sheffield Occupational Health Service provides a high quality occupational health service to NHS Trusts, Universities and a number of private sector clients mostly within the Sheffield area.

We are looking to recruit a OH Mental Health Practitioner, with experience of working within the Occupational Health team in NHS care. The post holder will need to have extensive experience working within the NHS in various Mental health settings.

The post holder will promote positive Mental Health in the workplace and advise Managers on Mental Ill-Health issues in the workplace, e.g. recognising anxiety, stress depression. Other duties will be to provide support to departments/groups of staff in crisis e.g. coping with change.

This post will work as part of the OH Service delivering services to all clients and will provide excellent opportunities to gain experience in a large Occupational Health Service working alongside experienced OH Nurses, Specialist Nurses, Occupational Physicians, Occupational Health AHP's and Administrators.

As well as dealing with the broad range of occupational health work you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team but also autonomously within a framework of clinical governance and peer supervision, prioritising the delivery of care based on assessment of need.

Main duties of the job

To raise awareness of Mental Health issues in the workplace.

To update bank of current self-help literature or online information.

To refer to multidisciplinary team within Occupational Health and other outside agencies / GP where necessary

Provide short-term intervention only.

To provide training on Mental Health issues in the workplace complementing current and future planned provision.

To advise managers on Mental Health issues in the workplace and on the management of individual cases where employees are on long-term sickness or have persistent short-term absence.

To work pro-actively undertaking group work with those departments who have high sickness absence levels due to Mental Health issues.
