Job summary
An opportunity has arisen within the Dental Hospital to recruit a part time Staff Dental Hygienist/Therapist within the Paediatric Dentistry Department.
The Department provides the full range of paediatric dentistry care as a major secondary and tertiary referral centre, this includes treatment of children and young people with special needs and the requirement for complex dental care.
The successful candidate would be required to work off site at out paediatric dentistry outreach hub.
Successful candidates should possess the Diploma in Dental Hygiene/Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
Successful applicants will join the paediatric dentistry dental team providing all aspects of dental therapy care to children and young people.
Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to undertake dental health promotion and to deliver education in maintenance of oral hygiene.
The department provides the full range of Paediatric Dentistry care as a major secondary and tertiary referral centre. This includes treatment of special needs children, anxious patients, and complex dental care for children and adolescents. Joint Clinics are held with Restorative Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral Medicine and as part of the Cleft Lip and Palate Team. Facilities exist for the provision of treatment under sedation and the Children's hospital comprehensive dental care under GA and exodontia.
There are close links with all Paediatric Medical and Surgical specialities based atSheffield Childrens' Hospital.
