Job summary
Clinical Research Fellow in Hepatology based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT). Responsible to Consultants in Hepatology.
The service and research duties will be supervised by the STHFT Hepatology Consultants. The research will be in the field of Hepatology (henceforth called the liver research post). The Research Fellow would be expected to work towards peer-reviewed publications and potentially a higher degree.
There will be five clinical sessions. These sessions will be worked flexibly according to service demands, clinical ability / experience of the applicant and their research interests. A combination of Hepatology clinics and (upper or lower) endoscopy can be negotiated, depending on the skill set of the applicants and service needs. Some outpatient clinics are integral to the post and often relate to the research interest.
Main duties of the job
The appointment is to commence as soon as possible (precise time negotiable) for a fixed term period of one year in the first instance and subject to a maximum extension of two years. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. MRCP (or equivalent) and possession of a UK national training number in gastroenterology (or equivalent) is essential. The duties of this post are equivalent to ST3 and above (or equivalent).
