Job summary
This post has been running successfully for over last fifteen years and offers an opportunity to gain sub-specialty training in otology/neurotology. The successful appointee will join a dedicated team providing high quality sub-specialised, tertiary-level otology/neurotology service at the Regional Department of Neurotology based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
There will be ample opportunity to participate in all types of advanced otologic surgery depending on current level of training. You will be supported by an experienced team of scientists and therapists investigating middle ear pathology, implants and hearing and balance disorders and will be encouraged to pursue a higher degree through research.
MRCS or equivalent is essential
General on-call responsibilities covering adults and children are included.
Main duties of the job
Appointments are made to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the person appointed is required to be sufficiently flexible to undertake their main clinical duties at any of the sites within the Trust.
The ENT Consultants will delegate specific duties and responsibilities in accordance with experience/competence and the needs of the department. Changes in duties and responsibilities will be agreed with the consultant to whom the post holder will be responsible, i.e. Prof. J. Ray, Clinical Director.
The Clinical Fellows will cover Thursday night's on-call between them, including prospective cover for one another, as well as providing prospective cover for the Staff Grade Doctor's leave on Monday night.
The appointee would be expected to play a full part in the clinical, teaching and governance activities of the directorate.
