Job summary
Cardiology Services is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, highly motivated Senior Nurse leader to fulfil the role of Matron for Coronary Care, Acute Cardiology Ward (Firth 7) and other cardiology specialist services. The department has 8 level 2 care beds on coronary care unit and an acute cardiology ward comprising of 26 beds which include both level 2 and telemetry care beds providing top quality, modern facilities for the management of heart and lung disease, enabling our multidisciplinary teams to work together to provide a high standard of care for patients across South Yorkshire and the Humber region.
Strong professional leadership, clinical credibility and management skills are essential, as together with the Executive Team and Lead Clinicians, the post holder will provide visible leadership to deliver effective team working, effectiveness, patient focused care and excellent clinical outcomes.
Your key role will be to ensure clinical quality standards are achieved by providing inspirational and visible clinical leadership to the nursing teams working within CCU, Acute Cardiology ward (Firth7) including Specialist Nurse Teams for Cardiac Arrhythmias and Inherited Cardiac Conditions.
Main duties of the job
Work collaboratively with other professionals and support staff to establish multidisciplinary working arrangements within the service and across the Trust.
Exercise judgement in assessing wide ranging and complex patient problems. Agree solutions, ensure and promote an appropriate, safe and timely patient pathway, enabling the delivery of optimal patient care.
Take the lead in managing contentious, sensitive and delicate issues with patients their relatives and staff.
Investigate and assist with the response, and take appropriate actions, following formal complaints, participating in initiatives to promote patient involvement, Patient Services Team, Patient Forum etc. and monitor their impact.
To investigate, review and take appropriate action with regard to incident management and audit information to ensure robust systems and processes are developed to promote best practice.
Assist in developing and maintaining effective healthcare governance systems both at a directorate level and across the Trust to ensure effective processes are in place to ensure adherence to national guidance such as NPSA, NICE and CQUIN. Ensuring risk assessments are regularly reviewed and undertake investigative processes following critical incidents within the department.
Participate in the Trust out-of-hours arrangements for Duty Matron.
Produce reports and information in collaboration with the Directorate management team relating to Urology Services and make recommendations as required.
