Job description
Job responsibilities

There are significant opportunities within the Plastic Surgery department to expand clinical, operative, educational and academic skills which will assist candidates in becoming well rounded Surgical Skin Oncologists. There are 4 Plastic Surgery consultants and 1 Associate Specialist with dedicated interests in Skin Cancer attending to our large catchment area; providing a busy and wide-ranging service. As well as managing routine skin cancer work by Daycase minor operating for skin cancers, this tertiary referral centre also provides a sentinel lymph node biopsy service for melanomas and Merkel Cell carcinomas (including in the head and neck).
Patients requiring axillary, groin and pelvic lymph node dissections are managed within the Plastic Surgery directorate. There are also joint Plastics and Dermatology clinics including for patients requiring MOHs Surgery and Reconstruction. Candidates are expected to achieve the outcomes and competencies as set out by the RCS Senior Clinical Fellowship Scheme and demonstrate the level of professionalism required to ensure successful award of the fellowship certificate at completion of this post.
