Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join our dietetic team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. We are pleased to be able to offer a 2 year fixed term Band 6 post to focus on implementing the Enhanced Care in Care Homes (EHICH) agenda. This post will also be working alongside a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to aid in delivering nutritional education to Care Homes in Sheffield.

If you already have Band 5 or Band 6 experience of working within the Community setting, this could be an ideal opportunity.

The STH dietetic department consists of around 65 Dietitians, plus dietetic assistants and admin staff across 3 hospital sites and Sheffield community. We are a friendly, supportive and innovative department with a commitment to patient-centred care and best practice.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 2 years due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project's implementation and the timescales associated with this.

Main duties of the job

This post will be based at Manor Clinic within the Community Dietetic Team. The post will offer the opportunity to be involved in the Enhanced Health in Care Homes (EHICH) agenda.

This post will involve an element of project work alongside designing, implementing and evaluating training for care homes. This post will entail supporting and working in partnership with a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner who is also funded for a EHICH role. You will be supported by a Specialist Community Dietitian.

You will also be involved in the training and supervision of dietetic students. As a department we are committed to evidence based practice and you will be encouraged to lead on/ participate in audit, service evaluation, and research within your clinical specialty.   • Substantial dietetic experience in a variety of clinical specialities
  • Evidence of independent working
  • High level of knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management, especially Nutrition Support.
