Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for teaching to join the Education Team within Jessop Wing Hospital.

You will promote and support all aspects of learning and development for staff and pre-registration students. You will work alongside staff clinically to develop their knowledge and skills as well as organising and leading teaching sessions and educational support.

Main duties of the job

  • Is able to communicate to the trainee complex information related to clinical procedures
  • Establishes an effective relationship with the trainee, conducive to a positive learning experience
  • Communicates and liaises with trust experts to ensure current standards of practice are reflected within training programmes
  • When undertaking clinical skills training is able to analyse, assess and make judgments of the trainees skills to ensure patient safety and achieve clinical competence
  • Effective administration, co-ordination and facilitation skills to support the Clinical Nurse Educator team deliver local induction/teaching programmes/Mandatory and Moving and Handling training
  • Work autonomously and use initiative to organise, prioritise and adjust own workload in relation to clinical skills training within OGN
  • Follows trust policies and ensures that the trainee adheres to policies and procedures in relation to clinical skills training

A tertiary Gynae-Oncology service and a changing Gynaecology Service, which includes an Assisted Conception Unit, complete the services within the Directorate.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience
  • English Language GCSE grade C or above or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Assessor for TACS (Clinical Skills Assessor)
  • Venepuncture trainer/assessor
  • Cannulation trainer/assessor
  • Moving and Handling key trainer or willingness to work towards
  • Basic Life Support key trainer or willingness to work towards

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Extensive and current experience in the named clinical skills required for post
  • Extensive and current experience of teaching and assessing.
  • Experience of and ability to use Microsoft applications / PALMS.
