Job summary
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit has a current vacancy for a Lead Clinical Educator and is seeking a high performing nurse to join our dynamic, innovative, friendly and rapidly expanding team.
Our unit has 12 intensive care beds providing top quality, modern facilities for the management of heart and lung disease, enabling our multidisciplinary teams to work together to provide a high standard of care for patients across South Yorkshire and the Humber region.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for facilitating the continued learning and development of evidence based critical care nursing practice within CICU, ensuring education is responsive to service developments. They will use their expertise to strategically manage and co-ordinate education, provide support and act as a resource for senior and junior staff and members of the multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a commitment to critical care nursing and unit philosophy through a framework of clinical governance.
You will lead, manage and support the education team and co-ordinate activities to ensure a consistent educational approach when meeting unit needs on an ongoing basis. You will work collaboratively with network educators and be actively involved with the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Critical Care ICU course.
The post holder will actively attend network, Trust and divisional meetings to improve training and education needs, helping to lead professional practise standards. They will ensure education and clinical skills are delivered in line with key priorities and objectives within critical care to support our team to deliver safe and effective care. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team you would be required to develop and maintain an evidence based service for education and supporting technology based education resources.

Essential
- RGN Level one NMC registered
- Continuous professional development
- PGCE with a commitment to achieve a relevant educational masters (level) 7 degree
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
Experience
Essential
- Extensive relevant experience at AFC Band 6 in a cardiac critical care setting
- Extensive relevant experience at AFC Band 6 in an education role in critical care)
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
- Completion of recognised accredited ICU course modules
- Completion of Step 1, 2, 3 critical care competencies or equivalent
- Demonstration of involvement in unit developments, undertaking specific responsibilities within CICU
- Completed NMC recognised mentor qualification

- Experience in simulation training
