Job summary

The post holder will support the Education, Learning & Staff Development Director in providing operational and strategic leadership in systems, processes, and relationships to ensure that the Trust education and training programme is delivered.

Along with deputising for the Education, Learning and Staff Development Director, the post holder will have direct management responsibility for a range of functions, as well as specific areas of responsibility including:

  • Policy oversight and development
  • Education quality assurance and governance
  • Education and training

In addition to building networks and relationships across the organisation, the post will also have an external focus in developing networks nationally to learn from and share best practice, and locally ensuring appropriate connections across health, social, and voluntary and education sector organisations.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the development and ongoing review of the long-term Education Business Plan and strategic plans aligned to funding contracts, ensuring that they are consistent with the Trust strategy and direction, NHS priorities and stakeholder requirements. Plans must be successfully developed in accordance with agreed internal and external measures of performance.

Bring together individuals and teams into contributing to the Education Agenda.

Lead on the development and implementation of Education and Training policies including the study leave policy, induction, mandatory and job specific essential training policy and funding frameworks and advise on relevant policy development in other fields.Lead on service development and improvement initiative to continuously improve the education and training provision and ensure all regulatory standards and frameworks are met.
