Job summary

The Sheffield Kidney Institute has an established Peritoneal Dialysis Programme, providing patients both with CAPD and APD, in the hospital and community setting.

The post holder will be expected to work both in a hospital and home care setting.

Main duties of the job

Provide and deliver an education programme to patients and carers to enable their care be delivered in the home setting.

To support the patient in the transition to Home therapy.

To provide education and advice to medical, nursing and other professionals regarding peritoneal dialysis.

  • NVQ level III in Healthcare or equivalent level of qualification
  • Dialysis competencies
  • Willingness to undertake advanced Peritoneal Dialysis training on appointment to the role (3-6 month)
  • A Teaching & Assessing qualification / short courses and demonstrable experience or willing to undertake

  • Peritoneal dialysis competencies

  • Significant experience of working in a renal care setting
