Job summary
The role of the trauma service is to ensure that all patients receive the best care possible, utilising the latest evidence to support innovative ways of working.
Review the current process for managing ambulatory trauma patients.
Establish robust systems to ensure that the Orthopaedic trauma service operates smoothly.
To ensure that patients are cared for appropriately from admission through to discharge, between the trauma services (Accident and Emergency, TAU, and wards).
Main duties of the job
Coordinate admission of the trauma patient from ED, patients' home, or wards within the Trust to the appropriate ward within the orthopaedic unit.
Liaise with the theatre coordinator, anaesthetist, and orthopaedic surgeons to ensure the patient isinformed and prepared for surgery to avoid unnecessary delays and cancellations.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 12 months due to the post being part of an organisational change within the Musculoskeletal Services department. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and the management of organisational change.

- Relevant post registration qualification/ training in a trauma specific course
