Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses who have the skills required for the role of a junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join the in-patient Respiratory team. You will work with the Senior Sister and Matron to provide strong clinical leadership to the ward facilitating the delivery of high quality, patient centred care.

This vacancy is advertised on a secondment basis for the maximum period of 15 months. Where there is potential, the secondment may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The secondment of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to support the complex Respiratory needs of the patients within the speciality and complete ward based training and education through mentoring students, supporting TNAs and Integrated therapists. They must be committed to evidenced based care and remain up to date with national recommendations whilst adhering to clinical governance. They will also be expected to partake in local and national audits.
The Sister/Charge Nurse role includes the provision of nursing care and clinical skills to a diverse range of patients whilst supporting colleagues and carers on the ward.

GRaDE Care Group is comprised of 3 clinical directorates:
- Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Gastroenterology and Hepatology
- Respiratory Medicine
All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus' although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus' and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
