An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Sister/ Nurse Sonographer, to join the Fertility team at Jessops Fertility Assisted Conception Unit at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will join one of the most prestigious units in the UK. Jessop Fertility is a state-of-the-art Assisted Conception Unit situated within the Jessop Wing. It offers a full range of assisted conception services including IVF and ICSI , PGD, Fertility Preservation and Surrogacy and treatment with donor gametes. Success rates are above national average and emphasis is placed on patient safety, satisfaction and avoidance of multiple pregnancy. The unit currently undertakes approximately 500 IVF/ICSI cycles per year. The Unit is part of the Gynaecology Department and collaborates with researchers in the Academic Unit of Reproductive and Developmental Medicine.
The Jessops Fertility unit offers a unique dedicated service to couples experiencing fertility problems. Their emphasis is on providing an individual pathway of care/treatment to suit patient needs for both NHS and Self-funding patients. A commitment to individualised patient care, evidence based practice, teaching and health promotion is essential.
Main duties of the job
To develop and provide specialised programmes of nursing care to both couples and single people undergoing Fertility treatments, including IVF/ICSI, Donor Sperm and Donor Egg/Donor Embryo, Surrogacy, Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis Treatments and Fertility preservation to a diverse range of patients.
Lead a team of qualified staff and support student team members.
Take charge of the Department regularly.
Support the Senior Sister / Senior Charge Nurse in ensuring the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.
Work closely with the Medical, Embryology, Counselling and Administration Teams.
Be competent in Medical Ultrasound for fertility patients and early pregnancy or be willing to train in this skill.

The maternity unit has over 6800 births per year and is a Regional Tertiary Maternity Service with a Level 3 Neonatal Unit of 44 cots. A tertiary Gynae-Oncology service and a changing Gynaecology Service, which includes an Assisted Conception Unit, complete the services within the Directorate.
