Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse position within Respiratory Medicine at the Northern General Hospital.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced nurse to assist the Senior Sister in managing Robert Hadfield 1, an acute Respiratory inpatient ward.

The post holder will deliver high quality care, ensuring individual patients needs are assessed, care planned, implemented and evaluated regularly. Care will be patient centred and patients will be encouraged to participate in the planning of their care using evidence based research practices.

Exercise judgement in assessing wide ranging and complex patient problems. Agree solutions, ensure and promote options to enable the delivery of optimum patient care. Ensure that an effective discharge procedure is planned and actioned, so patients are discharged safely and in a timely manner.

GRaDE Care Group is comprised of 3 clinical directorates:

  • Respiratory Medicine

All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus' although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus' and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
  • Possess or working towards a degree.

  • Master's level degree

  • Experience of caring for patients with Respiratory conditions.
