Job summary

We are looking for a friendly, organised and hard-working, conscientious individual to join our nursing team on Vickers 2. The role of the housekeeper is key to the successful achievement of the infection control accreditation program, working under direct supervision of the senior nursing team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the trust PROUD values.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will undertake duties to assist the wider nursing team, serving meals and beverages to patients, contributing to the cleanliness of the ward and participating in general housekeeping duties.

To work as part of the clinical team to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment is maintained. To work closely with the Matron and Sister/Charge Nurse in supporting the nursing staff in providing a high standard of care by performing duties as per job description.

GRaDE Care Group is comprised of 3 clinical directorates:

  • Diabetes and Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology and Hepatology
  • Respiratory Medicine

All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus' although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus' and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

  • GCSE Math and English at grade 3/D or equivalent.
  • Clerical / IT qualification or relevant experience.

Desirable

  • Working towards NVQ level 2 or 3
  • Valid Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or attainment of Basic REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (can be completed once in post - one day course)
  • Manual Handling and Fire Awareness (can be completed once in post)

Experience

Desirable

  • Experience in a caring or hotel/catering environment
  • Experience in Customer service
  • Experience of working at a supervisory level

Special skills / aptitudes

  • Ability to communication well within a multidisciplinary team
