Job summary

The post holder will support the Service Manager in managing non-clinical services in the Charles Clifford Dental Services Directorate; ensuring resources are deployed effectively to provide high standards of care, service, teaching and research.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of financial, activity, waiting list and waiting time targets within their scope of responsibility.

They will provide line management and leadership to designated Directorate administrative staff. They will deputise and provide support to the Service Manager in all aspects of business/service management for the Directorate.

Main duties of the job

To oversee the management of administration staff and services in support of the provision of high quality care, teaching and research, within a patient centred environment.

Deputise for the Service Manager for all aspects of business/service management for the Directorate.

To ensure that the Directorate delivers financial targets, including balanced budgets, meeting cost improvement programmes and recovering income. In line with the Directorate's scheme of Delegations act as a Budget Manager for designated financial allocations.

To take responsibility for delivery of activity, waiting list and waiting time targets across the Directorate. Take a lead on agreeing and ensuring delivery of theatre activity, theatre profiles and targets.

In conjunction with the Service Manager, to support the management of, and the provision of a community-based specialist service for adults and children.

In conjunction with the Service Manager oversee the capacity planning and activity modelling processes for Charles Clifford Dental Services.

To ensure that the Directorate is fully involved in the commissioning process including all aspects of contracting and commissioning changes and have a full understanding of the potential implications on service delivery.

In conjunction with the Service Manager interpret and implement both national and local policies and any associated guidance with regard to clinical and non-clinical elements of the service.
