Job summary
We are looking for a fully trained and experienced linac Engineer to join our team.
The successful candidate will already have a track record with linac technology, having already attended Varian's technical maintenance courses for TrueBeam Linacs.
Candidates with no linac experience may be appointed on a lower band subject to qualifications and experience.
Main duties of the job
Maintenance, servicing and quality assurance of a range of radiotherapy equipment.
Development of clinical devices used within radiotherapy and other departments.

Weston Park Cancer Centre has a modern fleet of Varian linacs (4 x Varian Truebeam, 2 x Truebeam STx, 1 x Varian Clinac 2100, 1 Varian Unique), Varian PDR Brachytherapy equipment, Xstrahl kilovoltage machine and two Philips CT scanners which provide a full range of advanced techniques for our patients including SABR.
A linac replacement project is under way, following construction of two new linac bunkers.
The Radiotherapy Equipment Management Service (REMS) within Radiotherapy Physics at WPCC looks after all the major radiotherapy equipment: performing preventative maintenance and quality assurance as well as all troubleshooting and repairs, ensuring maximum clinical availability and treatment accuracy. The comprehensive mechanical manufacturing facilities on site are well-used. REMS also carry out first line servicing for the Philips CT scanners.
