Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Operating Department Practitioners to join our team of Critical Care ODP/Technicians.
The post holder will initiate and contribute to the care provision of the critically ill within the GeneralAdult Intensive Care, High Dependency, Post Operative Surgical and Neurosurgical Intensive Care units of the STH, working as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring a high standard of care and quality service is delivered within a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors alike.
Main duties of the job
To undertake and support the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of specific programmes of patient care, ensuring patient dignity and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
To maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, carers and members of the healthcare team.
Exercise judgement in assessing a wide range of patient problems and promote options for optimum patient care.
To act sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating an understanding of the diverse physical and emotional needs of patients, relatives, carers and staff.
To ensure accurate, contemporaneous and timely care records, both written and electronic.
At all times protect, improve and preserve patients' health by adherence to infection control policies and practice.
Work unsupervised within the Units and Hospital within Trust Guidelines, Policies and Procedures and the HCPC/NMC Codes of Conduct, seeking advice on non-routine matters from line managers or Duty Matron.
