Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available within our dispensaries for experienced and enthusiastic individuals looking to develop their leadership and operational skills.

We are looking to recruit motivated, pharmacy technicians who can support dispensary managers in the day-to-day operational management of the dispensary and its staff, as well as support the operations team in maintaining standards and quality.

We have posts available working predominantly in our Central Site dispensaries (Weston Park/ Royal Hallamshire) and the Northern General. dispensary. You may be required to work on other sites if necessary.

Further formal education will be actively supported with in-house training and support also provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Supervising and organising staff.
  • Ensuring efficient workflow and prioritisation of work.
  • Accredited checking of dispensed medications.
  • Patient Counselling
  • Dispensing medications including controlled drugs and clinical trials.
  • Mentorship and training responsibilities.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent
  • GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Evidence of relevant professional learning and development, preferably to undergraduate level/ or willing to work towards
  • Must be willing to qualify as an NVQ assessor

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent organisational and motivational skills demonstrable from previous experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis and with groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to form positive relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to manage complex workload under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal constructively with conflict, verbal and formal complaints, stress, verbal aggression demonstrable from previous experience
  • Work to high standards of accuracy and reliability demonstrable from experience

  • Relevant band 4 or above experience within a pharmacy environment.
  • Accredited checking status or working towards
  • Experience of using IT packages (i.e., Microsoft Office Package
  • Competent to label and dispense including controlled drugs. Ability to demonstrate low error rates
  • Staff development/training experience
  • Supervisory experience or willing to undertake a range of short courses in HR and management

Desirable

  • Experience of working with automated dispensing systems. Including basic troubleshooting
