Job summary

The Programme Manager will support the Operations Director and wider team in delivering effective quality improvement and efficiency project and programmes across the South Yorkshire Regional Services (SYRS) Care Group. This role is a part of the operational management team and wider clinical teams and is responsible for supporting programme management, continuous improvement and promoting standardised processes.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the post holder are to:

  • Provide expert quality improvement skills and capacity to the Care Group.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and track a complex range of projects, programmes and efficiency schemes to help teams deliver improved quality and efficiency.
  • Provide expert project and programme skills and capacity to the Care Group.
  • Play a lead role in the promotion of quality improvement methodology in the Care Group and contribute significantly to a growing culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support sustainable improvement in the Care Group incorporating capability building into projects and programmes.

  • Expert knowledge of portfolio, programme and project management in a NHS context.
  • Programme or complex project management experience.
  • Experience of line managing a variety of grades of staff, including managing attendance, recruitment, appraisal, managing front line discipline and grievances.
  • Experience of programme/ project budget setting, holding a delegated budget prior to hand-over to operational function.
  • Proven experience in a complex organisation working on projects that involve operational change.
  • Demonstrable experience of making significant judgements involving highly complex facts or situations requiring analysis and interpretation from a range of options.
  • Experience of working and influencing senior teams.
  • Experience of working across professional and organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of managing teams.
