Job summary

The appointment is for a fixed term period of 12 months. Cardiology Specialist Training in Coronary Intervention is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are appropriate to a final-year or post-CCT Cardiology Specialist Trainee in PCI

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • ST7 level or Post CCT equivalent

Desirable

  • Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of interview
  • If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Completion of Training (CCT), or be within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Broad Training in general Cardiology
  • Independent Angiogram operator with at least 300 cases
  • 2nd Operator PCI experience - 50-100 cases
  • 1st Operator PCI experience - 50-100 cases
  • Final year or post CCT trainee

Desirable

  • Exposure to complex PCI as a 1st Operator
  • Experience in research and publication in cardiology especially intervention
  • Resource management and committee work

Research

Essential

  • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
  • Basic understanding of research methods and statistics

Desirable

  • Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
  • MD/PhD

Teaching and Training
