Job summary

We are looking for a passionate and confident midwife to develop and lead the team to develop, implement and monitor strategies to underpin the principles of Clinical Governance.

As a passionate and knowledgeable leader with excellent team working skills you will work autonomously with our Multidisciplinary and corporate team to practice across the directorate and implement service improvement focused on high quality personalised care. As part of the wider maternity system you will also work alongside our LMNS to support and embed the safety and quality care.

Main duties of the job

Work in partnership with women and families, Quality and Safety team and maternity multidisciplinary team to create an environment in which improving the quality of service delivered is paramount.

The post holder will be responsible to and work with the Quality and Safety Matron in ensuring an integrated approach to Risk Management is achieved.

Be a visible leader who is accessible to patients, visitors and staff, providing professional and clinical leadership adhering and promoting the Trust personal responsibility framework.

Be responsible for leading the line management responsibilities of the Quality and Safety team in partnership with the other Band 7s within the team. This includes recruitment, sickness/absence, performance management, training, annual appraisals and any other requirement to support staff wellbeing.

The Directorate of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology is based at the Jessop Wing which is linked to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The maternity unit has over 6800 births per year and is a Regional Tertiary Maternity Service with a Level 3 Neonatal Unit of 44 cots. A tertiary Gynae-Oncology service and a changing Gynaecology Service, which includes an Assisted Conception Unit, complete the services within the Directorate.

  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration
  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
  • First Degree or equivalent level of knowledge and experience gained in a relevant environment

  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of investigation training / qualification

Desirable
