Job summary
We are pleased to offer our first level 6 Apprenticeship in Therapeutic Radiography here at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHSFT.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be eligible to apply for State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and become a fully qualified Therapeutic Radiographer. This will enable you to apply for Therapeutic Radiography posts and develop your career in Oncology where you will be part of a multidisciplinary team treating patients with cancer using radiation.

The Apprenticeship post consists of a fixed term contract of employment with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust to cover the duration of the apprenticeship. Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday (this includes study time).
Main duties of the job
The apprenticeship will run over 3 years and 1 month, comprising of: -
- On the job training based within the radiotherapy department at Weston Park Cancer Centre in Sheffield (aiming to start Feb 2024 to enable integration into the department and on boarding onto the University course).
- Off the job training (minimum 20% of time) - following an integrated timetable with Sheffield Hallam University. The University course commences in March 2024; attendance will be mostly through distance learning although you will be expected to attend a few days on site at the University.
- Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography, approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCP)

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 3 years and 1 month due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.
Salary will be in accordance with annex 21 of the AFC Terms and conditions, based on the maximum salary of AfC Band 5 as follows:
- Year 1 - 65%
- Year 2 - 70%
- Year 3 - 75%
