Job summary

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH) is one of the best providers of healthcare in the country with an outstanding reputation for saving lives and caring for patients and helping thousands of people every day.

Our teams work with health and social care partners across the whole of South Yorkshire, East Midlands and nationally, and with a range of other key local "anchor institutions" such as the City Council and the Universities, to make a difference to local people, their health and wellbeing.

STH is the largest employer in the region and we are committed to providing a great place to work for all our staff across our hospitals and community services.

We are a highly vibrant organisation with some of the highest levels of staff retention of any major employer in the country and our staff consistently rate us as a safe and supportive place to work. Treating our staff well is at the heart of who we are as an employer and we provide first class salary packages including above average holiday entitlement and a wide range of flexible benefits such as an excellent pension scheme, childcare and holiday clubs, education and development opportunities, staff discounts on a wide range of products, shops and services, as well as car parking and great accessibility on public transport.

Main duties of the job

We spend around £1.5billion each year to provide over two million patient episodes, and it is essential that we have the best team helping and supporting us in being the best organisation we can possibly be. To help us do this we are now seeking an Overseas Liasion Officer within the Accounts Receivable team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the ongoing management of Overseas Visitors and Private Patients attending the Trust and will be responsible for the review and collation of high quality information.

The role will include interviewing and identifying all potentially chargeable overseas visitors to the trust without prejudice.

The role also includes gathering and assessing confidential data and document analysis and reporting, costing, invoicing and cost avoidance and full credit control duties. It will also encompass communication with clinical teams, service managers and external Agencies such as The Department of Health, Home Office and Border Control

We are looking for a candidate with excellent numeracy and Excel skills, a thorough working knowledge of Lorenzo (or alternative PAS / client database), and who can demonstrate a wide knowledge of NHS issues. A high level of professionalism, objectivity and interpersonal skills are essential. Notwithstanding, the candidate must be capable of prioritising workloads and managing competing deadlines within the department.

About us

We are committed to recruiting and developing a diverse pool of talented people who want to be part of making STH a thriving and PROUD* place to work and ensuring we continue to flourish and succeed in improving the lives of the people we are proud to serve. If we sound like the kind of organisation you would like to work in, we would be delighted to speak to you about this role.

This is a challenging role and the successful applicant will need to gain a full understanding of the comprehensive Overseas Visitor Charging Regulations and Department of Health guidelines, for which training will be provided. Adaptability of approach is crucial due to on-going changes following the UKs exit from the EU.

This post will appeal to a candidate that has prior patient facing experience, who is able to work flexibly and make a positive contribution to the team. The successful candidate will be based across both the two campus sites, with an option for some hybrid working.

We request that you pay close attention to the essential criteria included in the job description and provide comprehensive examples of the criteria within the additional information section of your application.
