Job summary
This new, Principal Pharmacist level / AFC 8b post has been created to lead on Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Pharmacy Department.
This new and exciting area of therapeutics encompasses gene therapy, somatic cell therapy and the use of tissue engineered products, some of which are licensed, some unlicensed and others in clinical trials across multiple clinical areas.
This complex legal and regulatory picture needs a focussed, driven pharmacist to pull together these different strands, working with stakeholders and clinical teams to help develop models of care for use of ATMPs for both trial and non-trial use.
With a 3-isolator gene therapy/ATMP suite currently being commissioned alongside an expanded chemotherapy aseptic dispensing unit our ability to offer more of these cutting-edge therapies will be greatly enhanced. The trust also has an established CAR-T service within haematology, with several highly specialised pharmacists which this new post will work alongside.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will act as professional secretary for the new ATMP committee which is being created to drive consistency with the adoption of these new therapies. The post-holder will be setting the agenda for the increasing usage of ATMPs in line with best practice and legislation.
Create the ATMP policy for the trust. Ensure that all ATMPs being used meet the relevant regulatory requirements.
Work with the Clinical and Aseptics Principal Pharmacists to ensure that relevant standard operating procedures are available to guide the use of ATMPs within the trust.
Represent Sheffield Teaching Hospitals at a national level and participate in the wider strategic national agenda for ATMP.
