Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity with the MSK Orthopaedics Team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team, to actively support the Directorate in the efficient and effective management of the inpatient waiting lists.

To provide comprehensive admin support to our waiting list co-ordinators within the MSK care group.

Main duties of the job

  • Collecting and taking medical notes to and from clinic
  • Speaking with patients on the telephone
  • Completing 3 day check for patients coming in for surgery
  • Reconciling consent clinics
  • Be responsible for looking after a trauma diary
  • Assisting the waiting list team when cancelling patients

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE English and mathematics at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent qualification / experience)
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in admin related role or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • I.T. qualification(s)
  • Accredited management qualification(s)

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience of working in an NHS Hospital
  • Ability to prioritise patients on the waiting lists, with support from clinical staff
  • Patient Administration and Trust I.T. systems
  • Evidence of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of professionals and service users/customers
  • Experience communicating directly with patients, carers & relatives, both face-to-face and over the 'phone

Desirable

  • Experience using Lorenzo
  • Experience of managing inpatient and outpatient waiting lists
  • Demonstrable track record working with healthcare targets such as the 18-week RTTP and Cancer Waiting Times (CWT)
