Job summary

We have an opportunity for an Installation Electrician and Maintenance Apprentice to join our Estates Management Team that maintains and develops a substantial estate at one of the country's foremost Teaching Foundation Trusts.

This is a fixed term role for the duration of the apprenticeship and the assessment period. You will receive full training via the Level 3 Installation Electrician and Maintenance Apprenticeship and must be committed to the training and willing to learn new skills.

Estates plays a crucial role in keeping our hospitals and services running. From essential power, heating, plumbing and mechanical systems, to the inside and outside of our buildings and grounds, Estates staff make sure these are safe and well-maintained for our patients, visitors, and other staff.

Our staff have a wide range of expertise and skills - from construction trades and technical skills, building and site management, surveying, and more. Together they carry out vital inspections, maintenance, and repairs across our sites, so that we can keep giving excellent care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

The Estates Directorate provide a comprehensive Estate Management Service to all the Trust's properties.

The postholder will be responsible for carrying out maintenance tasks and new installation works as supervised in his/her first year of attending college.

During the remaining duration of the apprenticeship the apprentice will be expected to provide a flexible, high quality responsive and comprehensive maintenance service as part of a multi-disciplinary team engaged in repair, maintenance and installation of equipment across the Trust.

Professionally the post holder will be expected to uphold the Trust's PROUD values and behaviours and behave in a manner befitting the responsible position of the role and in the best interests of the patients we serve.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 42months due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.

The apprentice allowance as specified in the Minimum Wage Regulations will be paid for the first 12 months. The rate will increase after 12 months in line with these regulations for anyone that is age 19 or over.
