Job summary
Business Intelligence Officer Band 5 - The successful candidate will work closely with the Directorate Business Manager and IT colleagues to deliver a high quality of service information & reports to colleagues within the Trust and to external users of the service. A key element of the role is to support the Directorate with SQL related tasks and data provision and involvement in data projects as required. There will be a requirement for excellent IT skills, particularly SQL, Excel and Access, to work with the databases and systems in place.
The post holder will be part of a small team within a larger Directorate and will benefit from working in a successful and supportive Directorate where there is great diversity in terms of roles and people and opportunity and where the Trust's 'PROUD' values are embedded within the Team.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 18 months, Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.
Main duties of the job
- To provide analytical, business intelligence and technical support to the Directorate Business Team and wider Directorate, assisting in the provision of information and the maintenance of databases, to run and provide standard reports and create specifically tailored reports and queries as required.
- To provide data analysis (frequently complex data) and create reports to support the Directorate in relation to any activity related enquiries
- To provide general support for activity and technical queries on behalf of the IT and Business Teams, as required
- To provide, analyse and audit data returns to NHSI, in conjunction with the IT Lead, Business Manager and Laboratory Managers ensuring accurate reflection of Laboratory Medicine activity for submission into NHSI Model Hospital portals
