The Clinical Research and Innovation Office wishes to recruit an individual keen to develop a career in clinical research. The Directorate has a growing portfolio of research activity and is keen to develop services in order to conduct further clinical research. The aim of this post is to ensure research is conducted to the highest standard and to provide research participants with excellent quality of care.
The post holder's primary task will be to work as part of a team of experienced research support staff, including doctors, research nurses, and administrators to support studies from setup to archiving. This is a key role within the Directorate and will require considerable commitment to ensure the delivery of a high quality support service. We are therefore seeking a pro-active individual whose skills will enable them to fulfil the role's responsibilities quickly and efficiently.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a member of the core Clinical Trials Assistant Research Team, Royal Hallamshire and Northern General Hospitals, Sheffield. They will assist in the delivery of first class quality care and service to research participants and researchers. They will be required to work with the Principle Investigator, Research Nurses and the wider teams who support research activity across the Directorates.
The post holder will assist in supporting a portfolio of clinical trials, from study set up to archiving, in accordance with clinical trial protocols, laboratory manuals and all relevant regulatory standards. The role will involve completing and submitting documents to obtain approvals; collecting, recording and maintaining research data records; entering activity data and extracting information from databases, providing clinical and administrative support to Research Nurses including performing clinical tests and investigations, processing and shipping samples and assisting with screening and recruitment processes.

The NIHR Sheffield Clinical Research Facility is a joint venture between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Use of the facility is available to all clinical researchers and provides a specialist environment for the conduct of high quality clinical research as well as an outreach service facilitating research within the clinical directorates. The staff work with investigators to ensure research carried out in the CRF and affiliated directorates is of the highest possible standard and adheres to Research Governance and the Regulatory Framework guidelines.
The CRF supports a wide and increasing portfolio of studies across a breadth of clinical specialties. It provides an excellent environment to develop research skills and provides an education and development programme for all staff.
