Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist with a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy to join our team to lead on the provision of therapies to patients under the care of the General Surgery Directorate. Applicants should also be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
We are offering this exciting opportunity for a clinical pharmacist to join our successful surgery team working across the general surgery wards at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Northern General Hospital.
The successful applicant will complete a guided training plan, evidenced against the RPS advanced pharmacy framework, to progress from band 7 to 8a, with an opportunity to complete independent prescribing if not already achieved.
The surgical pharmacy team consists of pharmacists, medicines management technicians and medicines management assistants.
The team deliver a comprehensive service to four wards. Services provided include the lower gastrointestinal colorectal and the upper gastrointestinal hepato biliary wards.
The post holder will also contribute to the pharmacy core service, performing departmental duties including evenings and weekends and clinical duties.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can further develop this established clinical role.
The post can be offered at band 7 or 8a depending on experience.
Main duties of the job
- To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services for General Surgery in accordance with the objectives set by the Principal Pharmacist and General Surgery Directorate in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs.
- To contribute to the pharmacy departmental services including evenings and weekends.
The post-holder will contribute to the departments weekend, bank holiday and evening (to 8pm) commitments
Please also note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant/s will start at Band 7 unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 8a.
