Job summary
We are looking to appoint to a whole time Consultant Gastroenterologists to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to join a team of 22 Luminal Gastroenterologists and 7 Hepatologists.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The multi award-winning Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT) Gastroenterology and Hepatology (G&H) Directorate has extensive facilities for outpatient, inpatient and endoscopic activity on both Royal Hallamshire and Northern General Hospital sites.
The appointee will be responsible, with colleagues for provision of Gastroenterology services. The post comprises 10 PAs per week (1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) / 8.5 Direct Clinical Care (DCCs) including 0.5PA on call activity). This includes 3 outpatient clinics per week either general gastroenterology or to support the IBD sub-specialty and 2 endoscopy lists per week. A Consultant of the Day model is in operation for acute specialist take and out of hours endoscopy. There is also an 'on' and 'off' ward rota to deliver front door and base ward care Gastroenterology/Hepatology care.
