Job summary

Due to expansion in our service, we seek a dynamic, highly skilled, and experienced Cardiac Physiologist / Healthcare Scientist to lead our Cardiac Device Service.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to build upon recent successes and develop an outstanding cardiac device service for the future.

The successful candidate would work closely with the Invasive Service Manager to establish additional remote monitoring applications, expand the physiologist implant/explant service and develop a His bundle pacing program. As well as providing day to day clinical leadership

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for providing clinical leadership to the cardiac device service.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of clinical pathways within the cardiac device service
  • Support the Invasive Service Manager in the management of the invasive physiology team.
  • Responsible for the continued professional development of a specific staff group
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of the cardiac device service
  • Responsible for initiating clinical, audit research and service development with the cardiac device service.
  • Perform clinical duties within the Invasive Cardiac Physiology Service (30:70 split non-clinical v clinical)

Essential

  • BSc in Clinical Physiology, MSc Clinical Science (Cardiac, Vascular, Respiratory and Sleep Sciences) or equivalent
  • SCST parts I & II (if applicable to qualification route)
  • BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA accreditation in cardiac devices or electrophysiology
  • Active Registration with RCCP, AHCS or HCPC
  • Intermediate Life Support

Desirable

  • Postgraduate diploma in management or equivalent level of knowledge and skills gained through a combination of postgraduate study and/or experience plus relevant short courses.
  • Registered as a clinical scientist with HCPC

Experience

Essential

  • High level of competency in all non-invasive diagnostic cardiology procedure
  • Experience in cardiac device follow up and implantation including PPM, ICD and CRT
  • Experience in invasive cardiac investigations
  • Experience in research and Audit
  • Experience working at Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist level
  • Experience of operationally managing clinical services.
  • Experience of building effective working relationships with both immediate management and wider clinical teams.
