Job summary
We have a vacancy for a Clinical Engineer to lead and manage our large Medical Device Management Services (MDMS) team in providing safe and effective medical device management services from within the Clinical Engineering department at STH.
The post holder is responsible for the high performance of the Medical Device Management Services and staff, for continuing the embedded culture of working within a certificated quality system, engendering a philosophy of service improvement, and ensuring the strategic direction of the service is consistent with that of clinical engineering and the Trust.
The post holder will house and support apprentices and trainees across all medical device related programmes and will be involved in the delivery of medical device training at local and national level.
Main duties of the job
- To lead a large team of clinical engineers and associated staff to provide safe and effective Medical Device Management Services (MDMS) within Clinical Engineering
- To be responsible for managing the MDMS at STH, acting with a high degree of autonomy in all operational matters
- To support the Head of Clinical Engineering in directing and developing a high-quality Clinical Engineering service, primarily regarding the MDMS activities undertaken for the Trust and its external customers
- To ensure that the strategic direction of the service is consistent with that of Clinical Engineering and the Trust
- To engender a philosophy of service improvement within the service
- To be responsible for ensuring that all relevant key performance indicators and activity levels are delivered
- To be responsible for the performance management of the MDMS
- To translate advanced knowledge, both theoretical and practical, into engineering practice across the MDMS activities of Clinical Engineering
- To support the Head of Clinical Engineering in developing the MDMS within the objectives of the Directorate and the Trust, with responsibility for leading defined projects
