Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, innovative senior leaders to apply substantive post as Deputy Operations Director working across the Combined Community and Acute Group.

This is a challenging role, with competing priorities and the need for strong leadership, resilience and interpersonal skills. The post holder will work closely with the Operations Director and senior leadership colleagues to lead change and deliver a range of competing priorities. You will work closely with our Directorate Leadership teams and you will also work corporately, across the Group wider Trust, and the city, to innovatively develop new ways of working within the Combined Community and Acute Group and in partnership with others.

The Care Group is focused on bringing integration to the forefront of delivering truly integrated care for patients whose care transcends primary, community, intermediate and acute care. These are key roles in the delivery of highly effective operational management within services and across the Group working alongside the Executive and Clinical and Senior Management Teams.

The role provides a great development opportunity for aspirant Directors, with regular exposure to a complex agenda, regular opportunities to operate in a board level setting, and working across the health and social care system. We are a supportive team, and there is scope for developing your portfolio flexibly.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead the central group business functions
  • To work with, and in specific areas, to lead the Directorate Management Teams to formulate and agree business plans and objectives including capacity planning and delivery of P&E and to ensure that these plans are monitored effectively
  • To develop patient focused services, identifying future financial, capital and workforce requirements and ensuring that contractual, financial and performance targets are met.
  • Utilise and build business intelligence on workforce activity, analyse changes in capacity, demand or other trends or developments that may impact on service provision, make recommendations, action or propose solutions to issues
  • To lead the roll out and implementation of trust wide initiatives within the care group
  • Deputise for the Operations Director and represent the breadth of the Care Group
  • Provide leadership to the initiation and management of service developments e.g. service or capital developments, implementation of changes
  • Provide leadership to programmes of transformational change across the Care Group and support the implementation of service redesign and changes in line with locally agreed and nationally recognised best practice
