Job summary
The Academic Directorate of Respiratory Medicine is looking to recruit a whole-time equivalent consultant in respiratory medicine with an interest in pulmonary hypertension. The Sheffield Pulmonary Vascular Disease Unit is one of the largest pulmonary hypertension centres in the world with a highly active translational medicine research programme. MRCP or equivalent are essential. Candidates must have or be within 6 months of obtaining a CCST or equivalent in Respiratory Medicine.

Job plans are extremely attractive with significant amounts of time off the wards to develop sub-specialty interests, generous clinic templates, and a well-supported specialty respiratory on-call rota.

Main duties of the job
This post will be based in the Sheffield Pulmonary Vascular Disease Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield part of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS FT.
The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues be responsible for the provision of
- Pulmonary Hypertension and General Respiratory Medicine.
- Detailed assessment and in-patient management of patients with pulmonary vascular disease / pulmonary hypertension.
On a rotational basis, pulmonary Hypertension duties will include:
- Ward rounds
- Attendance at MDT meetings
- Pulmonary vascular clinics
- Provision of right heart catheter lists or bronchoscopy lists.
- Cover for pulmonary vascular inpatients
- Participation in the departments service improvement and research programme
Also on a rotational basis, general Respiratory Medicine duties will include:
- Provision of non-elective inpatient care covering periods of leave in the chest medicine team.
