Job summary

The Academic Directorate of Diabetes and Endocrinology is seeking to appoint a whole-time (10 PA) Consultant Physician in Diabetes. This post is part of an exciting expansion to deliver and develop Diabetes and Endocrine care within Sheffield, and regional specialised services including hypoglycaemia, painful neuropathy and technology in Diabetes and pituitary, adrenal, thyroid and neuroendocrine tumours in Endocrinology. PAs will also be available to appropriate candidates for research and other specific SPA work to support departmental ambitions. Should any further vacancies arise, shortlisted candidates will be considered.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Clinical Director

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be responsible for providingDiabetes and Endocrinology service within the Trust. The role will be both ward based and out-patient based.

The successful candidate must be registered with the GMC with a valid licence to practice. You will also have completed Specialist Training (or equivalent) and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT date within six months of the date of interview.

Essential

  • Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
