The Rheumatology Department at STH are currently recruiting for a whole-time Consultant Rheumatologist to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Applications from those who wish to work on a less than full time basis, or a job share, are welcomed and adaptations to the job plan would be made to support this upon appointment
Should any further vacancies arise, shortlisted candidates will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive Rheumatology Service.
The successful candidate will work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the team in order to provide a high quality, comprehensive service within this teaching hospital environment. To minimise travel between sites the job plan has been designed to ensure that wherever possible the successful candidate will be based at one site each day.
We are also looking to develop our service and so having a special interest that complements the department would be welcome, and in particular an interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound would be encouraged. We are looking to continue our work as a Specialised Rheumatology centre. These posts will support the general rheumatology workload of the department with scope to develop a special interest.
Research is encouraged and full facilities are available.
About us
The Rheumatology team presently comprises 11 NHS consultants with a wide range of special interests. These are replacement posts and the appointees will take over the case load of the departing consultants. We have 2 specialist rheumatology registrars and 2 junior trainees (one GP trainee and one core medical trainee). Our department is supported by a team of dedicated nurses which includes our Matron, 4 clinical nurse specialists, 3 biologic nurse specialists, one lupus nurse specialist and a senior sister who manages the remainder of our nursing team, who rotate between our in and outpatient facilities.
