Job summary
We are recruiting Ward Facilitator to act as an assistant to the Sisters/Charge Nurses on Chesterman 3.
This is an exciting and key role that provides confidential administrative support to the Sisters/Charge Nurses and Ward Co-ordinators releasing time so that they can manage their nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care in their clinical inpatient areas.
You will report directly to the Sisters/Charge Nurses, but will have key relationships with the nursing team and clinical team looking after each patient.
To apply for this position you should have proven experience on a ward and be able to demonstrate that you can work independently and use your initiative to prioritise and complete conflicting demands in a timely and effective manner.
Main duties of the job
- You will be supporting the ward nursing team by working with various teams across the Trust and external to the hospital to ensure that all patients are discharged safely and effectively.
- You will also support the Sisters with administrative tasks related to staff management and clinical care.
- You will provide general day to day administrative support to the Ward Sisters as required.
- You will work as part of the ward team under the direction of the Nurse in Charge. They will assist in facilitating the discharge of patients from the ward in line with the Trust standards and policies. The post holder will liaise and communicate effectively with relatives, community colleagues, other allied health professionals and medical / nursing staff.
- You will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adopt a positive attitude towards staff, patients and relatives at all times.

- Assist in typing up PDRs and inputting data onto ESR.
- Assist with inputting changes to Health Roster.
- Assist the nurse in charge with undertaking necessary audits.
- Ensure that extended delays are escalated to the Ward Sister for further action.
- Answer the phone and deal with requests for information, whilst maintaining a professional manner and ensuring confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with relatives/carers and all members of the MDT.
- Relay timely messages to members of staff.
- Assist the Ward Sister with any specialist requirements for the speciality, such as complex equipment ordering.
- Build effective relationships with other allied health professionals to ensure seamless transitions of care.
- Undertake administrative tasks for the Ward Sister and ward team, such as photocopying, typing of simple letters and progress chasing any outstanding actions as required.
