A full time Consultant Immunologist is sought to join the Immunology and Allergy team at the Northern General Hospital (NGH), Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT).

We are seeking a motivated and effective colleague, who also has the capability to act independently for the provision, management and continuing development of the immunology laboratory and clinical services.
Main duties of the job
Due to a retirement, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Consultant Immunologist to join the established team of 4 consultants and support the Sheffield immunology laboratory (Protein Reference Unit) and adult clinical immunology and allergy services in Sheffield. Our forward thinking, committed and friendly team works closely together to provide efficient, high quality clinical and laboratory services.
About us
The Department of Immunology works closely with UK NEQAS Immunology, Immunochemistry and Allergy. Although this job does not have any EQA responsibilities, there will be opportunities to work in collaboration UK NEQAS IIA on specific projects.
The Clinical Immunology and Allergy Unit (CIAU) provides services for South Yorkshire and beyond, and is one of the few centres which provide comprehensive immunology and allergy services for adults
The Sheffield Immunology and Allergy services form part of the Trent Immunology and Allergy Consortium (TRIAC) network, which aims to ensure provision of high quality clinical Immunology and Allergy services across the broader region.

This role involves laboratory and outpatient clinical services. The Sheffield PRU is one of the largest immunology laboratory services in the UK. It is UKAS accredited, with a track record for new assay and service development. The Sheffield PRU has recently developed a SARS CoV2 in-house antibody tests in collaboration with University of Sheffield. Within the laboratory you will provide reporting expertise as well as liaison with service users in planning appropriate immunological investigation of patients. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality laboratory service to nationally accepted standards (UKAS).
You will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical audit, research and development. You will also be required to undertake management duties and work within a multidisciplinary team.
Research is encouraged and there are opportunities for collaboration with University of Sheffield and clinical research facilities are available. Applications from those unable, for personal reasons, to work on a whole time basis or a job share basis will be considered.
