Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and conscientious individual to start a career in Healthcare Science, working in the Respiratory Physiology Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Respiratory Service is delivered at a variety of locations both within the Trust and wider community setting.
Main duties of the job
The successful apprentice will be required to undertake the necessary training and academic development needed to perform basic level respiratory tests on patients. The apprentice will also assist other staff with intermediate and advanced procedures; general tasks such as cleaning medical devices, administration and clerical duties. Training will include undertaking the Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Science delivered by Sheffield College. Most of the time you will be learning in the work place but will be required to attend The Sheffield College and complete some distance learning.
You should have 5 GCSEs to include English, Mathematics and Science Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) as an essential minimum requirement.
About us
The post is full-time. Candidates will need to be available for a start date to commence studies in February 2021. The successful applicant may be required, on occasions, to work independently and as the post will be based in a clinical area, applications will only be accepted from candidates aged 18 or over at date of appointment.
The apprentice salary is £8,092 per annum. Please note the post does not guarantee permanent employment, however on successful completion of the Apprenticeship the qualifications, experience and skills gained provide an opportunity to apply for Assistant Practitioner posts with starting salary of £18,005 per year.
